Federal Rebate (All Australians)
New South Wales residents qualify for the Cheaper Home Batteries Program:
- ✓~$372 per kWh (9.3 STCs × $40)
- ✓~$5,000 for 13.5kWh, max $18,600
- ✓Battery must be VPP-capable
- ✓From 1 July 2025
New South Wales State Rebate(VPP Incentive)
NSW offers a VPP incentive worth $40-55 per kWh of battery capacity, which nearly doubled from 1 July 2025 and stacks with the federal rebate.
- ✓VPP incentive: $40-55 per kWh (approx. $400-550 for 10kWh battery)
- ✓Battery must have 2-28kWh usable capacity
- ✓Can be combined with federal rebate for maximum savings
- ✓The Empowering Homes interest-free loan is no longer accepting applications
Other Electrification Rebates in New South Wales
Beyond battery rebates, New South Wales residents may qualify for additional incentives on solar, hot water, heating, and electric vehicles. Remember: The federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate requires your battery to be connected to solar PV.
NSW has no state solar rebate. Federal STCs remain available for solar panels (~$3,000-$5,000).
